Peau de Chagrin/Bleu de Nuit

Overview

Baloji, a Congolese-Belgian artist, turns his lens to the wedding customs of Congo's pygmy communities, capturing rituals rarely seen beyond their forest homes. Through his distinctive visual language, he documents the ceremonies, songs, and symbolic exchanges that bind two families together, honoring a heritage often marginalized in mainstream Congolese culture. The result is a vivid, respectful portrait of tradition in motion, where every gesture carries generations of meaning.
